These terms govern your use of ShieldSelf, a UK-based personal cybersecurity service that provides an online course and breach monitoring on a paid membership basis. By signing up for a ShieldSelf membership you agree to these terms.

Membership

ShieldSelf is provided on a 12-month rolling membership at £19.99 per month, billed monthly to the payment card you provide. The membership renews automatically each month. After the initial 12 months you can cancel at any time from your account.

Membership gives you access to the full course, your personal ShieldSelf Score, and breach monitoring on up to five email addresses.

Cancellation

You can cancel from your account in two clicks via the Manage Membership page once your initial 12-month term has elapsed. Your membership will remain active until the end of the billing period that is current at the point of cancellation, and you will not be billed further.

Statutory cancellation right

Under the UK Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013 you may cancel within 14 days of signing up and receive a full refund, provided you have not yet accessed any course content. If you have accessed any course content within the cancellation period you agree that you have actively requested supply of digital content during the cancellation period and consequently lose the right to cancel under these regulations.

Refunds

Outside the statutory 14-day window, monthly fees that have already been paid are non-refundable. We may, at our discretion, issue a refund where there has been a substantial fault with the service.

What ShieldSelf is and is not

ShieldSelf is an educational and monitoring service. It is not a managed security service, an insurance product, or a guarantee that you will not be the victim of fraud or cybercrime. Following the guidance in the course will materially reduce your risk but cannot eliminate it.

Breach monitoring depends on third-party breach databases such as Have I Been Pwned. We cannot detect breaches that have not yet been discovered or made available to those databases.

Acceptable use

You agree that you will not:

• Share your account or membership credentials with anyone else.
• Use ShieldSelf to monitor email addresses you do not own or are not authorised to monitor on behalf of an individual member of your household.
• Resell, redistribute or commercially exploit the course content.
• Attempt to interfere with the security or operation of the service.

Intellectual property

All course materials, branding and software remain the property of ShieldSelf. Your membership grants you a personal, non-transferable licence to access and use the materials for your own protection only.

Service availability

We aim to keep ShieldSelf available 24/7 but cannot guarantee uninterrupted access. Maintenance windows, hosting issues or third-party service disruption may occasionally affect availability.

Limitation of liability

Nothing in these terms limits or excludes our liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for any other liability that cannot be limited under English law.

Subject to the above, our total liability to you in connection with ShieldSelf is limited to the fees you have paid in the 12 months preceding the event giving rise to the claim. We are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, loss of profit, or losses arising from cybercrime, fraud or third-party security breaches.

Termination by us

We may suspend or terminate your membership for material or persistent breach of these terms, or where required by law. In other circumstances we will give you at least 30 days' notice and refund any unused portion of fees you have paid in advance.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any dispute will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. Material changes will be notified by email at least 14 days before they take effect.
